The best time to visit Tam Coc

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the Beer Garden, it was time for Ivy's morning nap. I strapped her in the pram and off we went to explore the beautiful countryside. Now I'm sitting here under the shade of a big tree with my beautiful little girl sleeping peacefully in her pram after a long walk through the mountains and rice fields.

We are so lucky to be able to share this beautiful landscape of mountains, rice fields and the unique river way of Tam Coc with Ivy and all the tourists that visit us at Chookie's. If you've been lucky enough to visit Ninh Binh already then you know how amazing this underrated destination is and for those who haven't been then you must come to visit before it's completely taken over by mass tourism.

Tam Coc has quickly moved itself up on the list as one of the must see places in Vietnam. This is because of its natural beauty and unique river system that flows through the limestone mountains and surrounded by rice crops once a year. The farmers here mainly harvest one crop the year in the river and that time is now. It's the best time to take a boat trip in Tam Coc to see the stunning rice fields surrounded by water and limestone mountains.

We admit sometimes the boat rowers and vendors can be a little troublesome but don't let them stop you from enjoying a once in a life time experience. Sit back and relax on your boat trip as you take in the stunning landscape that Tam Coc has to offer. There are many more activities to do in Tam Coc after your boat trip. You can walk around the small villages, cycle through the countryside and visit Bich Dong Pagoda or Thai Vi Temple. My next blog post will be about what to do in Ninh Binh for one day so be sure to come back and check it out.

And here's a little fun fact for all those people that don't know where the rice comes from. When I was working as a guide people would ask me if the rice comes from the bottom or the top of the plant?

Well if you guessed it grows on the top of the plant then you are right and if you come to Ninh Binh now then you can see for yourself how it grows.
